Winter Watch List

An update on what we're reading, watching and listening to, when we're not making soap that is.

As the days get colder, we lean toward cosiness and warmth. We slow cook, light candles and start to wrap up for the months ahead.

READ

The Hike Life by Rozanna Purcell - A stunning book featuring so, so many options of hikes across the island of Ireland. From beginners to more advanced, long trails and short trails, secret swimming spots and some truly breath taking photography. The perfect coffee table book. Follow The Hike Life on Instagram.

The Great Irish Book of Gaelic Games by Evanne Ni Chuilinn - A book for young people aged between 6 - 12 (ish) but definitely something for everyone and an ideal christmas present. In stores this Wednesday 26 October. There is no better woman than Evanne to share this wealth of GAA knowledge! Follow Evanne on Instagram.

Off The Grid by Dominic Bradbury - This one is a few years old but another great coffee table read, this book is jam packed with beautiful homes that exist entirely off the grid.

WATCH / VISIT

Andy Warhol Exhibition at Hugh Lane Gallery - This one is in Dublin but if you have an opportunity to visit, it is definitely worth your time. The gallery has been working on this unique exhibition for over five years which includes more than 250 works borrowed from museums and private collections in the US, Canada, Europe and the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. It's running until 28 January 2024. More information here.

Bad Sisters - A wonderful Irish female-led comedy. Developed by, written by and starring the talented Sharon Horgan. If you haven't managed to watch this yet, spooky season is a good time to start. The are also currently filming season 2, so there'll be very little downtime waiting for your next fix. Available on Apple TV.

Nick Offerman's 'Yule Log' - If you've watched the now cult classic Parks & Recreation, you'll most likely be a fan of Nick Offerman. Offerman has long been an ambassador for Scottish whisky, Lagavulin and they produced this lovely 44 minute fireplace scene for you to enjoy, preferably in silence. Watch on Youtube.

LISTEN

Family Trips with the Meyers Brothers - During the writers strike, Seth Meyers and his brother started a podcast inviting guests on to chat and relive their favourite childhood memories of family trips. New episodes out every Tuesday and always one for a laugh.
